Poor old fella, there's always one who resorts to rudeness. Cannot argue a point politely and leave his own name! He must, whoever he is, have some sort of problem if he gets upset about operating systems!

Any version of XP is is more stable than ME/98 etc. XP is based on NT4 which came out with 95. The main difference is that XP/NT/2000 have memory cells which enables a program to crash without stalling the system.

Another problem is that there are no ME/98 drivers available for later computers.

There is an alternative version of TinyXP Rev09 specifically created for the Acer Aspire One Netbooks:

http://aspireonesoftware.wordpress.com/2008/09/30/rons-image/

I myself use this exact image and it works a treat straight out of the box (video, sound, network, webcam, microphone etc), apart from you need to correct the keyboard layout as it is originally set up for Netherlands (The instructions to change are on the above web page as well).

If it is speed you want, forget all versions of XP-it makes so many demands on any computer. Recently I realised that the benefits of Tiny XP are imaginary: Windows Millenium edition is much faster. I took XP off and reinstalled ME and I am glad I did, my old laptop sings along. Bootup and general working are faster and better. Of course XP is more stable and more software exists now, but ME is faster.
ME is best for old computers that have modest RAM and processing power. ME is better than 98 since it has better USB support. None of us like being dictated to by Microsoft with its never-ending updates, but ME or Puppy Linux are about the fastest you can get. Linux can be booted from a CD. It has no registry to clean out and does not fragment files. Both are better than Tiny XP!

Burned iso to CD -- formatted hard drive -- tried to install -- get messages stating unable to copy files to system folder (or something like that) any suggestions on how to proceed?

No problem if you use the full driver pack.
You will probably have to download a video driver.
The standard one works Ok, but standby & Hibernate don't work.
